Two tablespoonfuls of powdered sugar to the white of one egg will make excellent meringue. To rid the pantry of ants, mix cayenne pepper and borax and dust it around the pantry shelves. Milk will never burn if, before heating, a little cold water is put into the saucepan and brought to the boil. Heat the milk the usual way. When putting a tack in a place where it is difficult to hold it with the fingers, thrust it thru a little strip of paper, which will enable it to easily be held in place without danger of pounding the fingers. If running a machine makes your back ache, try drawing your chair up close to the machine so that you can sit perfectly straight while working. When you run the machine this way you will use only the feet and ankle muscles and save all the strain on the back that causes it to ache. Fresh fruit should be eaten plentifully as they are better medicines for both he physical and mental man than all the doctors can prepare. Fruits with acid have a highly beneficial effect on the general health, tone up the system and make one feel glad they are living. Try them and see. The ordinary dish cloth is described by a recent writer as “a happy hunting ground for germs and microbes.” Nothing truer in this world. When you wash dishes, do it with a clean cloth. How can you expect to wash anything clean with a soiled cloth, and will it help make things sweet if it has become sour?
