Map of annual
river flows in Colorado in acre-feet of water. (An acre-foot is 326,000 gallons,
enough to supply 4 people for 1 year.)
This map is current to about 1965, and generally represents today's flows. A modern version of this map can be viewed at the Colorado Water Resources Division. |
|
The Colorado River is the largest river in the state, and the Yampa River is second largest. Notice how the Arkansas River and the Rio Grande River have slightly smaller flows in their downstream portions due to irrigation withdrawals.
